01 — YOUR DATA
What we collect and why
We collect only the information needed to operate Dr. Frugal and provide the features you choose. This can include account details such as your name, email address, preferences and subscription status; financial account balances, transaction history, merchant information, payment references and recurring payments; budgets, goals, bills, subscriptions, household expenses, shopping lists, receipts, products and price information; AI prompts and relevant financial summaries; plus technical, diagnostic and security information. We never ask you to provide your online banking password or PIN directly.
02 — OPEN BANKING
Connected with your permission
Dr. Frugal enables you to connect supported financial accounts using Open Banking. FERZAN INFORMATION TECHNOLOGIES LTD acts as an Agent of Yapily Connect Ltd for applicable Open Banking services. Your bank handles authentication and you control the permissions granted. We receive only the information made available under those permissions, and you may disconnect an account or withdraw permission at any time. We store relevant transaction and application data using Google Firebase infrastructure to provide transaction history, budgeting, comparisons, categorisation, recurring-payment analysis and personalised insights.
03 — ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE
Helpful analysis, with clear limits
Dr. Frugal uses Google’s paid Gemini API for certain AI features. Where necessary, information such as transaction descriptions, amounts, categories, spending patterns, budget information, receipts, shopping information and your questions may be securely transmitted to Gemini. We use this to help categorise transactions, analyse spending and history, assist with budgets, identify patterns and possible savings, and explain your financial information. Google states that prompts and responses for paid Gemini API services are not used to improve its products. AI responses may contain errors and are for informational financial-management purposes only—not financial, investment, tax, accounting or legal advice.
04 — SHARING & SAFEGUARDS
We do not sell your personal data
We may share personal data only where necessary to operate Dr. Frugal, provide functionality you request, or comply with law. This can include Yapily and relevant financial institutions for Open Banking; Google Firebase for cloud infrastructure; Google Gemini API when you use AI functionality; service providers supporting hosting, authentication, security, communications, monitoring, analytics and customer support; and retailers or price-data providers for requested shopping features. Some providers may process information outside the UK. Where this happens, we apply appropriate safeguards, such as UK adequacy regulations, the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or approved contractual clauses.
05 — RETENTION & SECURITY
Kept only as long as needed
We retain personal data only as long as reasonably necessary to provide the Services and meet legal, regulatory, accounting, fraud-prevention and security requirements. When information is no longer needed, we delete or anonymise it; secure backups may retain it temporarily until overwritten. You can request account deletion by contacting support@drfrugal.app. We use appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect data, including encrypted communications, access and authentication controls, restricted production access, security monitoring and secure cloud infrastructure.
06 — YOUR RIGHTS
Control over your information
Subject to legal limitations and exemptions, UK data-protection law gives you rights to be informed, access your data, correct inaccuracies, request erasure or restriction, receive certain data in a portable format, object to some processing, and withdraw consent where it applies. To exercise these rights, contact support@drfrugal.app. If you have a concern, contact us first; you also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office. Dr. Frugal is intended for adults aged 18 or over. We may update this policy when our services, technology, providers or legal obligations change.
